Though some people are born with silver spoons they never get the food easily to make use of the spoon. Well, being contended with the silver spoon or by putting massive efforts to turn the silver in to gold is completely rest on the person who owns it. Born as Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja, Dhanush did have an easy entry to K-town, courtesy his dad, Kasthuri Raja and his brother, Selvaraghavan. Albeit he made use their prowess to establish himself as a hero, it is Dhanush’s skillful acting and intelligence behind picking the right scripts to put him right at the top as an pan-Indian actor.
Dhanush’s journey started with a coming of age genre ‘Thulluvatho Ilamai’ which took the first step in Tamil cinema to talk about the values of being a good parent to their kids who face torrid times during their teenage. The movie had its share of success thanks to the story line and Yuvan’s music. Overall, the critics did not have good words to say about the hero. The brothers re-united once again and the pictures of their next movie kept ebbing out during the run of ‘Adulthood Ilamai’ itself.
With ‘Kaadhal Kondein’ Dhanush transfigured himself as, Vinod. His character as an disturbed youth yearns for a much needed love from his friend has took the box office by storm. The entire Tamil Nadu started to utter the name ‘Divya Divya’ like him. The critics who wrote him off for being an hero with this maiden movie changed their pens to shower praise for his acting skills in his second movie itself.
Just to sway away from serious characters, Dhanush shifted gears towards commercial cinema. The ‘Manmadarasa’ doubled his fan count and hit the bulls eye once again with his body language and superior dancing skills. It is not easy to turn our negatives to ultra positives, but Dhanush understood his limitations and worked within that to achieve great heights. ‘Pudhukottayilirundhu Saravanan’ stood tall the early litmus test and rode by the virtue of his hat-trick.
He tried and tested various characters in the next four films ‘Sullan’, ‘Dreams’, ‘Devathayai Kandaen’, and ‘Athu Oru Kanaakaalam’. Irrespective of the box office reports he anchored himself as a bankable lead. In every actor’s career there will be a movie which cannot be remade by any other star. ‘Pudhupettai’ gave a new tone to Dhanush.
As ‘Kokki Kumar’ he mastered the art of acting by playing as a teenager, small time Gangster, shrewd Politician, lonely Prisoner, and Underworld Don. The movie found a place in all time best movies and it still attracts many viewers in TV premiere. His character as Prabhu in ‘Polladhavan’ is nothing but an hardship of every lower middle class youngster who dreams of making it big in the society. He wrote a new book altogether in terms of expressions and body language. He even wore a six pack and proved anything is possible for him.
‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, ‘Padikathavan’, ‘Kutty’, and ‘Uthamaputhiran’ steadied his commercial side. But ‘Aadukalam’ took him way ahead of his peers and he showed varied emotions throughout the flick. All the awards including National award for best actor came towards, ‘K.P. Karuppu’. He achieved everything in terms of acting with a short span and tried his luck as a ‘Poetu’ and wrote a Tanglish number ‘Why This Kolvaveri Di’. There is nothing more to write about the popularity and success of it. By merit of the viral hit, an offer from Bollywood beckoned him and he lapped it up with glee. ‘Raanjhana’ – With his very first movie in Hindi he achieved the 100+ crore status and proved language barriers are not a barricade for his acting skills.
‘Maryan’ – A character close to his real life, never say die attitude has once again earned credits from all the corner and his recent success ‘VIP’ has established himself as one of the commercial king in the market. Be it a Gangster, an honest lover, Struggling Photographer, a jobless Engineer a carefree laid back youth… he has done it all. He is yet to be outshone by someone else in his movies and his acting skills are always up to the skills of seasoned performers like, Prakashraj.
Dhanush – He is definitely lean but he keeps throwing punches way ahead of his physical weight. Indiaglitz, wishes the realistic actor a fantastic year ahead and a pleasant journey in his personal/professional life.
