National Award-winning director SP Jhananathan has locked the cast of his forthcoming film, titled Purampokku as informed by us earlier, and will be produced by .The action entertainer will feature Arya and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, and will go on floors from November.
The director confirms, “‘Purampokku’ is a word that we usually use to refer to property that does not belong to anyone in particular. Though the word is used to demean others, it actually has a deeper connotation. Our ancestors have left more than 15 types of purampokku lands for us, and they are used illegally by people with power. The film will deal with one such purampokku land. We will extensively shoot the film in the north, in places like Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. We are now hunting for suitable locations there.”
Interestingly, while the film earlier had Jayam Ravi and Jiiva in the lead, Vijay Sethupathi had later replaced Jiiva. “I’ve worked with both Ravi and Jiiva, and thought I would feel comfortable working with them again. But later, we decided to go with a fresh cast. Both Arya and Vijay Sethupathi fit the bill perfectly, and they will be seen in a completely different avatar,” Jhananathan asserts. While the female leads and the rest of the cast are yet to be finalized, Ekambaram and VT Vijayan have been roped in as the cinematographer and editor respectively.
